About Stamps Bar – Crosby, Liverpool

Welcome to Stamps Bar, an independent pub and bar in the heart of Crosby, Liverpool.

We first opened our doors in 1996 and, nearly three decades later, Stamps remains a proper local bar built around three simple things:

Great drinks. Great music. Great people.

Whether you’re joining us for a quiet afternoon pint, meeting friends for drinks, trying one of our latest cask ales or coming along for an evening of entertainment, we want Stamps to be somewhere you can relax and feel welcome.

We’re proud to be part of the Crosby community and equally proud that many customers who first walked through our doors years ago are still drinking with us today.

An Independent Bar in the Heart of Crosby

Stamps Bar is situated at 4 Crown Buildings, Liverpool Road, Crosby, Liverpool, L23 5SR, around six miles north of Liverpool city centre.

Being independent is important to us.

We’re not a large chain where every pub looks the same, serves exactly the same drinks and plays from the same rulebook.

Stamps has developed its own personality over the years.

It’s friendly, relaxed and unpretentious.

Some customers visit us specifically for the beer.

Others come for the music and entertainment.

Some meet friends for a Friday or Saturday night out, while plenty simply call in because they know they’ll find a familiar face and a decent pint waiting for them.

That’s what a good local should be about.

Serving Crosby Since 1996

Stamps Bar opened in 1996, and we’ve seen plenty of changes in Crosby and the pub industry since then.

One thing that hasn’t changed is our belief that a local bar should be more than somewhere that simply sells drinks.

It should be part of its community.

Over the years, Stamps has become a meeting place for friends, families, musicians, beer drinkers and local groups.

We’ve hosted countless nights of live music and entertainment, poured thousands of different beers and welcomed generations of customers through our doors.

There are customers who remember Stamps from its earliest days and others who have only recently discovered us.

Everyone is welcome.

A Passion for Cask Ale

If there’s one drink that has played a particularly important role in the history of Stamps, it’s cask ale.

We’ve been passionate about real ale for many years and have served thousands of different beers from breweries large and small.

Our commitment to cask beer was recognised in 2010 when Stamps received a CAMRA LocAle award.

Today, you’ll still find a changing selection of cask ales on our hand pumps.

Rather than offering exactly the same beers all year round, we like to rotate the selection and give customers the opportunity to discover something different.

You might find:

  • Traditional bitters
  • Pale ales
  • Golden ales
  • IPAs
  • Porters
  • Stouts
  • Seasonal ales
  • Local beers
  • Guest beers from independent UK breweries

If you enjoy real ale, take a look at our Cask Ale page to see more about what we offer.

Supporting Local & Independent Breweries

Stamps has always supported local and independent breweries, particularly those from Merseyside and the wider North West.

A regularly changing beer selection allows us to showcase different brewers while giving our customers something new to try.

If there’s a particular brewery or cask beer you’d like to see at Stamps, tell us.

We’re always interested in hearing what our customers would like us to put on next.

More Than Just Real Ale

We’re known for cask beer, but you certainly don’t need to be a real ale drinker to enjoy Stamps.

Our bar offers a broad selection of drinks, including:

  • Draught lagers and beers
  • Cask ales
  • Craft beers
  • Wines
  • Prosecco
  • Whiskies
  • Gins
  • Vodkas
  • Rums
  • Other spirits
  • Soft drinks and mixers

We also regularly run special drinks promotions and feature different products throughout the year.

So whether your usual order is a pint of bitter, lager, glass of wine, whisky or gin and tonic, you’ll find plenty to choose from.

Live Music & Entertainment in Crosby

Music has always been a big part of Stamps.

Over the years, our bar has welcomed numerous bands, singers and musicians, helping to make Stamps one of Crosby’s familiar live entertainment venues.

There’s something special about seeing live music in a smaller independent venue.

You’re close to the performers, everyone gets involved and the atmosphere can be completely different from watching a band in a large concert venue.

Keep an eye on our What’s On section and social media pages to see what’s coming up.

Friday Night Karaoke

Fancy taking the microphone yourself?

Friday night is karaoke night at Stamps Bar.

Our karaoke starts from 9pm every Friday, with customers taking on everything from rock and indie classics to pop, soul and the occasional song nobody else in the building expected to hear.

You don’t need to be a great singer.

In fact, we’re fairly certain that has never been a requirement.

Pick a song, grab the microphone and have a go.

Or leave the singing to everyone else and enjoy the entertainment from the safety of the bar.

Either way, it’s a great way to start the weekend in Crosby.

A Bar Built Around Its Customers

We can talk about beer, music and events all day, but ultimately the customers make Stamps what it is.

Independent pubs rely on people choosing to use them.

We’re fortunate to have customers who have supported Stamps for many years, alongside new faces discovering the bar for the first time.

We like knowing our regulars.

We like hearing which beers they’d like us to bring in.

We like seeing familiar groups meeting up every week.

And we like being somewhere people in Crosby choose to spend their time.

That community atmosphere is difficult to manufacture.

It develops naturally over years — and it’s something we’re proud of.
