About Stamps
About Stamps:
Stamps was 10 years old in May of this year.
Stamps Bar`s caption is ”Real ale, Real food and plays Real music”
Since its begining, Stamps has supported live performance, whether music, poetry( no longer available because of the withdrawl of our grant from the Arts Council), theatre or art.
Our policy is that all perfomances are “live” We do not allow the use of backing tapes. We believe all musicians, not just guitarists, have a right to perform. We therefore in particular encourage a totally eclectic range of music. “The more varied your band the more likely we will ask you to play.”
We actively encourage other forms of performance, poetry, theatre, and art. We consider artists who want to display in our premises.
As much as we can all food is produced on the premises. We try to use local suppliers. We refuse to use processed food, sorry for this you can always go to the usual high street fast junk food outlets!!
Although we sell a range of beers and wines, we try to specialse in Real Ales. If any alcohol can be “healthy” then naturally fermenting beers is as close as it gets.We try to suport small independent brewers especially those from the Merseyside area.
Finally Stamps is the only bar in the country ( as far as we are aware?) who is a member of Amnesty International. Please support them.
PS Unfotunately the North West Arts Council have withdrawn our poetry grant to give the money to the Olympic Games so there are no more Poetry Nights in Stamps . Just remember this when you read about how much they support Art in the community!!!!
