The Rioters

- I’m always wary when a musician tells me that it was "standing room only" at their regular gig, but when John Morton wrote, "It is a thoroughly good early evening’s entertainment and well appreciated by the packed clientele - admittedly Stamps is a fairly small wine bar. The music is lively and good as would be expected from this experienced band. The audience is very responsive and attracted also by a selection of good hand pulled beers sold at a reasonable price", I felt I had to go and see for myself. Barbara and I called last Sunday and I have to say Jeff Lewis wasn’t telling any porkies (see picture). It’s a great old English pub, putting me in mind of the John O’Gaunt in Lancaster, but the clientele ranged from young to all, from families to singles, it was heart-warming, as was the jazz. I won’t embarrass one musician by saying who arrived late having forgot to put his clock forward."
